तपः–मन्त्रजप–ध्यानविधिः
Protocol of Tapas, Mantra-Japa, and Śiva-Dhyāna
एवं चैवं मया पूर्वं श्रुतं मुनिमुखात्तथा । अतस्तद्भजनेनैव लप्स्येऽहं सुखमुत्तमम्
evaṃ caivaṃ mayā pūrvaṃ śrutaṃ munimukhāttathā | atastadbhajanenaiva lapsye'haṃ sukhamuttamam
Thus, in this very manner, I had earlier heard it from the mouth of a sage. Therefore, by worshipping Śiva alone, I shall attain the highest bliss.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Shiva Purana tradition to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Emphasizes guru/muni-vākya as pramāṇa leading to exclusive bhajana of Śiva and attainment of uttama-sukha (mokṣa/bliss).
Role: teaching
Offering: pushpa
The verse affirms śruti-like trust in guru-vākya (heard from a sage) and concludes that exclusive devotion to Shiva (tad-bhajana) leads to uttama-sukha—supreme, liberating bliss aligned with Shaiva Siddhanta’s goal of Shiva’s grace and release from bondage.
It supports focused, single-point worship of Shiva in an accessible form—commonly the Shiva-Linga—where bhajana (adoration, praise, service) becomes the practical means to realize the Lord’s presence and receive His anugraha (grace).
A clear takeaway is regular Shiva bhajana: daily Linga-pūjā with water/abhisheka, japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and remembrance of Shiva with devotion as the direct means to attain supreme inner peace.
