Having thus deliberated, O sage, all the gods went to their teacher’s abode; and, seeking the fulfillment of their own purpose, they approached the Guru and submitted their petition.

Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights Guru-tattva: even the devas rely on right counsel and humility, showing that spiritual and worldly aims are best fulfilled through proper guidance and disciplined submission rather than pride.
In Shaiva tradition, approaching the Guru is the doorway to correct Shiva-upasana—learning the proper attitude, mantra, and method for Saguna Shiva worship (including Linga devotion) so that effort becomes aligned with dharma and grace.
A practical takeaway is to seek initiation/instruction for Shiva-mantra japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and to approach worship with nivedana—offering one’s intention and surrender before beginning practice.
