The Account of Śambhu’s Incarnation that Dispels Doubts Concerning Women
अस्य पित्रादयः केऽपि न सन्तीह सहायिनः । कारणं किं बभूवाथ ह्यहो दैवबलं महत्
asya pitrādayaḥ ke'pi na santīha sahāyinaḥ | kāraṇaṃ kiṃ babhūvātha hyaho daivabalaṃ mahat
Here, none of his relatives—beginning with his father—are present as helpers. What, then, became the cause of this? Alas, how great indeed is the power of destiny (daiva)!
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya, inferred standard Purāṇic frame)
Tattva Level: pasha
It highlights the fragility of worldly reliance—family and social supports may not appear when needed—thereby pointing the seeker toward the higher refuge: Shiva’s grace, which alone can loosen the bonds (pāśa) formed by karma.
By stressing that human helpers may be absent, the verse implicitly directs devotion toward Saguna Shiva—worshipped as the Linga—who remains the steady protector and the giver of anugraha beyond the fluctuations of fate.
A practical takeaway is steadfast japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and daily Shiva-smaraṇa, cultivating surrender when daiva seems overwhelming.
