अथ तज्जननी दैवात्तृषिताति नृपाङ्गना । सरोवतीर्णा पानार्थं ग्रस्ता ग्राहेण पाथसि
atha tajjananī daivāttṛṣitāti nṛpāṅganā | sarovatīrṇā pānārthaṃ grastā grāheṇa pāthasi
Then, by the turn of destiny, that king’s noble lady—his mother—became exceedingly thirsty. Having descended to the lake to drink, she was seized in the water by a crocodile.

Though the Linga is not named here, the narrative pattern in the Shiva Purana commonly moves from danger to turning toward Saguna Shiva for protection—often culminating in prayer, vow, or worship that reveals Shiva’s grace working through events.
In sudden danger, the Shaiva takeaway is immediate japa and remembrance—especially the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—as a stabilizing refuge while seeking Shiva’s protection.
