द्विजेश्वरावतारः
The Manifestation of Shiva as Dvijeśvara
वज्रबाहुः पिता मे हि सप त्नीको महेश्वर । सपत्नीकस्त्वहं नाथ सदा त्वत्पादसेवकः
vajrabāhuḥ pitā me hi sapa tnīko maheśvara | sapatnīkastvahaṃ nātha sadā tvatpādasevakaḥ
O Maheśvara, Vajrabāhu is indeed my father, and he dwells together with his wife. O Lord, I too am with my wife, and I am ever a servant at Your feet.
A devotee/householder petitioner addressing Lord Shiva (as Maheśvara)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Role: nurturing
It presents Shaiva bhakti as compatible with gṛhastha life: even while living with one’s spouse, the highest identity is to remain “tvat-pāda-sevakaḥ,” a surrendered servant at Śiva’s feet—an attitude central to liberation in Shaiva devotion.
By addressing Śiva as “Maheśvara” and emphasizing pāda-sevā, it supports Saguna upāsanā—personal worship through reverent service (such as Linga-pūjā, abhiṣeka, and daily offerings) as a direct path of grace.
Adopt daily Shiva-sevā with the household—regular Linga worship, japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and a steady inner resolve of humility and service at Śiva’s feet.
