At one time, the Lord Śambhu—whose presence brings forth wondrous marvels—beheld Viṣṇu’s enchanting form as Mohinī, a manifestation arising from Viṣṇu’s own indwelling power.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
It highlights that even the most captivating divine manifestations (like Mohinī) are part of līlā, while Śiva as Pati remains the sovereign witness who is not bound by delusion—guiding the seeker to transcend fascination and rest in the Supreme.
Mohinī is a striking saguna manifestation, yet the verse points to Śambhu as the Lord who beholds and governs such forms. Linga-worship trains the devotee to honor saguna expressions while contemplating the formless, unwavering reality of Śiva indicated by the Linga.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with steady dhyāna on Śiva as the inner witness, helping the mind remain unattached to alluring appearances (māyā) and established in bhakti and clarity.
