निष्क्रमोऽथ चतुर्थेऽस्य मासि पित्रा कृतो गृहात् । अन्नप्राशनमब्दार्द्धे चूडार्द्धे चार्थवत्कृता
niṣkramo'tha caturthe'sya māsi pitrā kṛto gṛhāt | annaprāśanamabdārddhe cūḍārddhe cārthavatkṛtā
Then, in his fourth month, the father performed the rite of taking the child out of the house. At the half-year mark he carried out the first-feeding ceremony, and at the proper time he also performed the tonsure (cūḍā)—each rite done with due sanctity and purpose.

Though it describes family rites, their deeper aim is sanctification through devotion—traditionally accompanied by auspicious invocations of Saguna Shiva (often before a linga), so that daily life itself becomes an offering and a support for steady Shaiva worship.
Perform rites with mantra and purity; a practical Shaiva takeaway is to begin such ceremonies with Panchakshara japa ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), apply vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) if initiated in Shaiva practice, and keep a devotional intention rather than mere social formality.
