य इदम्परमाख्यानं पुण्यं वेदरसान्वितम् । पठति शृणुयाच्चैव सर्व्वान्कामानवाप्नुयात्
ya idamparamākhyānaṃ puṇyaṃ vedarasānvitam | paṭhati śṛṇuyāccaiva sarvvānkāmānavāpnuyāt
Whoever reads—or even merely hears—this supreme and holy account, imbued with the essence of the Vedas, attains the fulfillment of all worthy desires by the grace of Lord Śiva.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Sthala Purana: General phalaśruti: the kathā is declared ‘veda-rasa-anvita’ (imbued with Vedic essence), a common Purāṇic authorization for salvific listening/recitation.
Significance: Śravaṇa-paṭhana of Śiva-kathā yields iṣṭa-siddhi (all legitimate aims) and, in Śaiva framing, becomes a doorway to Śiva’s anugraha (grace) that loosens pāśa (bondage).
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It is a phalaśruti declaring that śravaṇa (hearing) and pāṭha (recitation) of this Śaiva narrative—considered Veda-essence—generates puṇya and invites Śiva’s grace, leading to the fruition of rightful aims and inner uplift.
By praising hearing/reciting Śiva’s sacred account, it supports Saguna-bhakti: approaching Śiva through name, form, and līlā. Such devotion naturally culminates in reverence for the Liṅga as Śiva’s accessible, worshipful presence.
Regular śravaṇa and pāṭha of the Shiva Purana as a vrata-like discipline—ideally with mental remembrance of Śiva and devotional recitation—are the implied practices; no specific bhasma, rudrākṣa, or mantra is explicitly prescribed in this verse.
