संहाररूप-प्रादुर्भावः
Manifestation of Śiva’s Saṃhāra-Form
यतो बिभर्षि सकलं विभज्य तनुमष्टधा । अतोऽस्मान्पाहि भगवन् सुरादानैरभीप्सितैः
yato bibharṣi sakalaṃ vibhajya tanumaṣṭadhā | ato'smānpāhi bhagavan surādānairabhīpsitaiḥ
Since You uphold the entire universe by dividing Your own body into an eightfold form, therefore protect us, O Bhagavān, with the desired gifts and boons that even the gods seek.
Devotees (a hymn/prayer addressed to Lord Shiva within the Shatarudrasaṃhitā narration, conveyed by Suta Goswami)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadashiva
Mantra: यतो बिभर्षि सकलं विभज्य तनुमष्टधा । अतोऽस्मान्पाहि भगवन् सुरादानैरभीप्सितैः
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
It praises Shiva as the cosmic sustainer who manifests as the eightfold form (Aṣṭamūrti) and affirms the Shaiva Siddhanta view that grace (anugraha) and protection come from Pati (Shiva), not merely from worldly power.
The verse addresses Shiva in a manifest, knowable way—His eightfold cosmic body—supporting Saguna upasana. In Linga worship, devotees similarly approach the formless Supreme through a sacred, accessible form that bestows protection and boons.
Use this as a protective prayer during Shiva puja—especially with japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” offering water and bilva leaves—meditating on Shiva pervading the eight cosmic aspects while seeking His anugraha (grace).
