jagattrayīsarjanārthaṃ śaṃkaraṃ nīlalohitam | lalāṭe'cintayatsoyantapasyugre ca saṃsthitaḥ
To bring forth the three worlds, he contemplated Śaṅkara—Nīlalohita—within his forehead, and remained established in fierce austerity.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Nīlakaṇṭha
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
Cosmic Event: emanation/creation of the three worlds through tapas and inner contemplation
It shows that cosmic manifestation is rooted in contemplation of Pati (Śiva) and disciplined tapas; creation proceeds when consciousness is aligned to Śaṅkara, the auspicious source of all forms.
Nīlalohita is a saguna (formed) manifestation of Rudra suitable for dhyāna; like the Liṅga, it is a sacred support for concentrating on the formless Lord through a worshipable form.
Brow-centered dhyāna (lalāṭa-sthāna) on Śiva’s form, supported by mantra-japa such as the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and sustained tapas (self-discipline).
