वीरभद्र-भैरव-आह्वानम् — Invocation of Vīrabhadra/Bhairava for Cosmic Reabsorption
यदायदा हि लोकस्य दुःखं किञ्चित्प्रजायते । तदातदावतीर्णस्त्वं करिष्यसि निरामयम्
yadāyadā hi lokasya duḥkhaṃ kiñcitprajāyate | tadātadāvatīrṇastvaṃ kariṣyasi nirāmayam
Whenever any suffering arises in the world, at that very time You descend (manifest) and make it free from affliction—restoring well-being through Your gracious presence.
Suta Goswami (narrating the puranic assurance of Shiva’s repeated manifestations)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: General tīrtha-phala principle: remembrance of the Lord’s timely descent is said to remove duḥkha and restore ārogya/śānti (nirāmaya).
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It affirms Shiva as Pati (the Lord) whose compassion repeatedly manifests in the world: when beings fall into duḥkha, He appears in an accessible (saguṇa) way to restore dharma, inner steadiness, and freedom from affliction.
Shiva’s “descent” can be understood as His saguṇa availability through forms like the Linga—where devotees approach Him for protection and healing—while His nirguṇa nature remains transcendent; the Linga becomes the stable point of contact for His grace.
Take refuge in Shiva through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and simple Linga-upāsanā (water offering, bilva leaves), optionally wearing rudrākṣa and applying tripuṇḍra-bhasma as reminders of His protection and purity.
