देवस्तुतिवर्णनम् (Deva-stuti-varṇana) — “Description of the Gods’ Hymn/Praise”
इत्येवं वचनं श्रुत्वा कश्यपाद्युदितं मुने । आश्वासयन्मुनीन्देवान् हरिर्वाक्यमुपाददे
ityevaṃ vacanaṃ śrutvā kaśyapādyuditaṃ mune | āśvāsayanmunīndevān harirvākyamupādade
O sage, having thus heard the words spoken by Kaśyapa and the others, Hari (Viṣṇu), consoling the sages and the gods, then began to speak.
Suta Goswami (narrating the episode; the verse introduces Hari/Viṣṇu’s speech)
It highlights dharmic leadership in crisis: the devas and sages seek stability, and a divine protector (Hari) responds with reassurance and guidance—preparing the mind for right action aligned with Śiva’s supreme order (Pati) in Shaiva understanding.
Though the verse is narrative, it frames the broader Shaiva theme that even great gods act within Śiva’s cosmic governance; this supports Saguna worship (including Liṅga-upāsanā) as a stabilizing refuge when devas and beings face turmoil.
The immediate teaching is reassurance and steadiness (āśvāsana). As a practical takeaway, one may cultivate śānti through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and mental composure before undertaking any dharmic response.
