Sanatkumāra said: Having heard those words of Brahmā, the Supreme Lord—Śaṅkara—serene in spirit, replied to that lord of the gods, the Ordainer (Brahmā).
Sanatkumara
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Role: teaching
It establishes Śiva as Parameśvara (Pati), who responds with a tranquil, gracious mind—showing that divine authority in Shaiva Siddhanta is joined with compassion and clarity, guiding even Brahmā.
By naming Śiva as Śaṅkara and Parameśvara in a personal dialogue, the verse supports Saguna devotion—worship of Śiva as the accessible Lord who listens and answers, which is the devotional ground of Liṅga-upāsanā.
The implied practice is śravaṇa (reverent listening) and calm japa: approach Śiva with a prasanna (settled) mind while repeating the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—before prayer or worship.
