Struck by the Goddess Mahādevī with a ball-like missile, those two mighty wicked ones spun round and round, and then fell down to the ground.
Sūta Gosvāmi (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Shakti Form: Durgā
Role: destructive
It shows Śakti as the active power of Pati (Śiva): when adharma becomes aggressive, the Goddess’ divine energy neutralizes it, reminding devotees that true strength is aligned with dharma and the Lord’s will.
In Śaiva Siddhānta, Saguna Śiva is worshiped with His inseparable Śakti; this battle image highlights that the Lord’s grace operates through divine power—devotion to the Liṅga naturally includes reverence for Mahādevī as Śiva’s śakti.
A practical takeaway is protective remembrance (smaraṇa) of Śiva-Śakti with japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” supported by Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as aids to steadiness and inner fearlessness.
