बाणस्य शोकः शिवस्मरणं च — Bāṇa’s Grief and the Turn to Śiva-Remembrance

इति श्रुत्वा स्वभक्तस्य बाणस्य भगवान्भवः । सर्वं लभिष्यसीत्युक्त्वा तत्रैवांतरधीयत

iti śrutvā svabhaktasya bāṇasya bhagavānbhavaḥ | sarvaṃ labhiṣyasītyuktvā tatraivāṃtaradhīyata

Hearing thus the words of his own devotee Bāṇa, the Blessed Lord Bhava (Śiva) said, “You shall attain everything,” and at that very place he vanished from sight.

Significance: Models the Siddhānta theme that Śiva’s grace (anugraha) alone grants attainment; devotion (bhakti) is validated by the Lord’s personal assurance.

FAQs

It highlights Śiva as Pati (the Lord) who responds to sincere bhakti: his assurance “you shall attain everything” signifies both worldly fulfillment and, ultimately, the highest good—freedom through his grace.

Śiva appears as Saguna Bhava—personally accessible to the devotee—granting a boon and then disappearing, reflecting the Purāṇic theme that the Linga and the personal form both serve as compassionate means for devotees to receive divine anugraha (grace).

The takeaway is steadfast bhakti with prayerful surrender; in practice this is commonly expressed through daily Śiva-pūjā and japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as a direct way to seek Śiva’s grace.
