Bāṇāsura Receives Gaṇapatya; Genealogical Prelude
ववुर्वाताश्च मृदवः पुष्पकेसरधूसराः । चुकूजुः पक्षिसंघाश्च शाखिनां मधुलम्पटाः
vavurvātāśca mṛdavaḥ puṣpakesaradhūsarāḥ | cukūjuḥ pakṣisaṃghāśca śākhināṃ madhulampaṭāḥ
Gentle breezes blew, greyed with the pollen of blossoms; and flocks of birds, greedy for the honey upon the trees, warbled sweetly.

Tattva Level: pasha
Role: nurturing
Offering: pushpa
Cosmic Event: Vasanta-udreka: pollen-laden breezes and honey-seeking birds signal kāma’s environmental support (guṇa-pravṛtti).
The verse paints an auspicious, sattvic atmosphere—gentle winds and sweet birdsong—signaling harmony in creation and preparing the listener’s mind for receptivity to Shiva’s grace (anugraha) amid the Yuddhakhaṇḍa narrative.
In Shaiva practice, such auspicious sensory signs support saguna-upāsanā: the devotee reads the calm, fragrant environment as a reflection of the Lord’s ordered presence in the world, helping steady attention for Linga worship and mantra-japa.
A practical takeaway is mindful japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while contemplating purity and calmness in nature—using the breath like a “gentle breeze” to soften the mind and sustain devotional focus.
