भूतत्रिपुरधर्मवर्णनम् (Description of the Dharma/Conduct of the Bhūta-Tripura) — Chapter 3
किं कृत्यमधुना कार्यमिति संतप्तमानसः । संतप्तानमरान्सर्वानाज्ञाय च सवासवान्
kiṃ kṛtyamadhunā kāryamiti saṃtaptamānasaḥ | saṃtaptānamarānsarvānājñāya ca savāsavān
His mind aflame with anguish, he thought, “What must be done now—what course remains?” And, perceiving that all the immortals—Indra among them—were likewise distressed, he reflected upon their plight.

Cosmic Event: Collective distress of devas in Tripura crisis
It highlights the dharmic turning-point: when even the devas are shaken, right action begins with clear discernment and humility—recognizing one’s limitation and preparing to seek the highest refuge (Pati, Lord Shiva) rather than relying on mere power.
In the Yuddhakhaṇḍa context, the devas’ distress typically culminates in seeking Shiva’s grace; Linga/Saguna Shiva worship functions as the accessible, compassionate form through which the Supreme aids bound beings (paśu) entangled in crisis.
A practical takeaway is to steady the mind with Shiva-smaraṇa—japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and prayer for right discernment—before taking action, especially when overwhelmed.
