मयस्य शिवस्तुतिः — Maya’s Hymn to Śiva
and Śiva’s Gracious Response
इदं हि परमाख्यानं यः पठेच्छ्रणुयात्सदा । इह भुक्त्वाखिलान्कामानंते मुक्तिमवाप्नुयात्
idaṃ hi paramākhyānaṃ yaḥ paṭhecchraṇuyātsadā | iha bhuktvākhilānkāmānaṃte muktimavāpnuyāt
Whoever regularly recites or listens to this supreme sacred narrative—having enjoyed in this world all worthy desires—attains liberation (moksha) in the end.
Sūta Gosvāmin
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Establishes śravaṇa/paṭhana of Śiva-kathā as a salvific act: legitimate enjoyments may be fulfilled, but the final fruit is mukti—consistent with Purāṇic pilgrimage/listening culture.
Role: liberating
It declares the phalaśruti: steady recitation or hearing of Shiva’s sacred narrative purifies the soul and leads ultimately to mokṣa, with worldly fulfillment granted in a dharmic way.
By honoring Shiva’s līlā-kathā (Saguna narration) through śravaṇa and pāṭha, devotion matures; this devotional approach supports inner surrender to Shiva, which culminates in liberation.
Regular śravaṇa (listening) and pāṭha (recitation) of Shiva Purana—ideally with remembrance of the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—is the implied practice for spiritual merit and liberation.
