नारदस्य विष्णूपदेशवर्णनम् — Nārada and Viṣṇu: Instruction after Delusion
अद्यापि निर्भयस्त्वं हि संगं नापस्तरस्विना । इदानीं लप्स्यसे विष्णो फलं स्वकृतकर्मणः
adyāpi nirbhayastvaṃ hi saṃgaṃ nāpastarasvinā | idānīṃ lapsyase viṣṇo phalaṃ svakṛtakarmaṇaḥ
Even now you remain fearless, for you have not yet crossed the perilous current of attachment. But now, O Viṣṇu, you shall receive the fruit of your own actions.
Lord Śiva (Rudra)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Rudra
The verse teaches that fearlessness alone is not liberation; as long as one has not crossed the swift current of attachment (saṅga), karma will mature and deliver its inevitable results. From a Shaiva Siddhanta lens, attachment is a form of pāśa (bond) that keeps the soul bound to karma-phala until grace and right knowledge arise.
It supports the Shaiva emphasis that refuge in Śiva—often approached through Saguna worship such as the Śiva-liṅga—helps the devotee loosen saṅga and transcend karma’s binding force. Liṅga worship is presented as a stabilizing means to turn the mind from worldly association toward Pati (Śiva), the liberating Lord.
A practical takeaway is cultivating vairāgya (detachment) alongside Śiva-upāsanā: daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a steady mind, supported by simple disciplines like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as reminders to cross beyond saṅga and face karma with clarity.
