That remaining portion became the twilight at the junction of day and night. It manifested as the evening Sandhyā, ever bestowing satisfaction and delight upon the Pitṛs (ancestral spirits).

Tattva Level: pasha
Sthala Purana: Not Jyotirliṅga-related; explains sāyam-sandhyā as a manifestation specifically linked to Pitṛ-prīti (ancestral satisfaction).
Significance: Frames evening junction as especially efficacious for Pitṛ-tarpaṇa and dharmic continuity; supports Śaiva householders’ nitya-kriyā integrating Deva and Pitṛ obligations.
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: nurturing
Offering: dipa
Cosmic Event: Sandhyā as the saṃdhi at day’s end—liminal time aligned with Pitṛ-loka propitiation in Purāṇic imagination.
It sanctifies the evening Sandhyā as a liminal, spiritually potent junction-time, and teaches that honoring this time supports dharma by bringing peace and contentment to the Pitṛs.
In the Shiva Purana’s devotional framework, Sandhyā is an ideal time for Saguna Shiva-upāsanā—such as Linga worship—because junction-times are suited for purification, mantra-japa, and offerings that uphold cosmic order (ṛta).
Perform evening Sandhyā-vandana (or a simple twilight practice): cleanse, apply bhasma/Tripuṇḍra if Shaiva, offer water (arghya) with remembrance, and do japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” optionally dedicating merit for Pitṛ-prīti.
