Brahmā said: Having heard the words of the great-souled Vasiṣṭha, and seeing that noble sage blazing like fire, they were filled with awe and listened with rapt attention.

Tattva Level: pati
Sthala Purana: Brahmā’s narration frames Vasiṣṭha’s tapas-tejas (‘blazing like fire’)—a classic sign that dharma-protecting sages operate under divine sanction. In Śaiva Siddhānta, such tejas can be read as a grace-supported purity enabling revelation and right action.
Significance: Reinforces reverence for ṛṣi-tejas and the sanctity of listening (śravaṇa) to dharmic speech; pilgrimage value is indirect—honoring sages and sacred places that host tapas.
It highlights śravaṇa (reverent listening) to a realized sage: the radiance of Vasiṣṭha symbolizes tapas and inner purity that awakens devotion and discernment toward Śiva’s path.
By stressing attentive reception of a guru-like authority, it supports the Shaiva approach where proper understanding of Saguna Śiva worship (including Liṅga-upāsanā) arises through sacred instruction and disciplined listening.
Practice śravaṇa and manana: listen to Śiva-kathā or guru-upadeśa with steadiness, then reflect—optionally alongside japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to internalize the teaching.
