Sūta said: Having thus heard the words of Vidhī (Brahmā), whose wisdom is immeasurable, Nārada—the foremost of sages—rejoicing and astonished, respectfully questioned him.

Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: Dialogue-setting verse; no Jyotirliṅga localization.
Significance: Frames śravaṇa–manana: hearing sacred discourse and asking questions is itself a purifying act leading the paśu toward Śiva-knowledge.
It highlights the traditional guru–śiṣya transmission: sincere listening (śravaṇa) followed by reverent inquiry, which Shaiva tradition treats as the doorway to right understanding of Shiva-tattva.
Though the verse is narrative, it sets the method by which Saguna Shiva worship (such as Linga devotion) is learned—through authoritative teaching and humble questioning within the Purana’s lineage.
The implied practice is śravaṇa–manana: hear the teachings with devotion and then inquire for clarity; this supports steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and focused meditation when later instructions are given.
