Then all those sages—Marīci, Atri, and the others—along with Dakṣa and the rest, O best of the twice-born, attained the vaikārika sense-faculties, the refined organs of perception and action.

Cosmic Event: cosmogonic unfolding of indriyas from ahaṅkāra (vaikārika)
It marks a stage in cosmic manifestation where embodied beings gain functioning sense-faculties; in Shaiva thought, these indriyas enable experience but also become instruments of bondage unless disciplined and offered to Śiva.
With senses active, worship becomes possible: seeing the Liṅga, hearing Śiva-kathā, chanting the Pañcākṣarī, and performing pūjā. The same senses that bind can be redirected toward Saguna Śiva as a means of purification.
Sense-restraint and consecration of the senses through japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” attentive listening to Śiva Purāṇa, and pūjā with disciplined conduct—so the indriyas serve devotion rather than desire.
