दक्षयज्ञे सत्या अपमानबोधः — Satī Encounters Disrespect at Dakṣa’s Sacrifice
तज्जन्म धिग्यो महतां सर्वथावद्यकृत्खलः । परित्याज्यो विशेषेण तत्संबंधो विपश्चिता
tajjanma dhigyo mahatāṃ sarvathāvadyakṛtkhalaḥ | parityājyo viśeṣeṇa tatsaṃbaṃdho vipaścitā
Cursed is such a birth, for that wicked one—who ever commits blameworthy deeds—brings disgrace even upon the great. Therefore, the wise should especially abandon all association and relationship with him.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Satī narrative to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
It teaches that adharma is contagious: association with a persistently sinful person drags even the noble into dishonor, so the discerning protect their spiritual life through purity of company (satsaṅga).
Linga-worship requires inner and outer śauca (purity). Avoiding corrupt association safeguards devotion (bhakti) and right conduct, which are essential supports for approaching Saguna Shiva with reverence.
Seek satsaṅga, maintain daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), and keep disciplines like bhasma/tripuṇḍra and rudrākṣa with a vow to avoid pāpa-saṅga (sinful company).
