सतीप्राप्तिविषये ब्रह्मरुद्रसंवादः | The Brahmā–Śiva Dialogue on Attaining Satī
ईश्वर उवाच । किमकार्षीत्सुरज्येष्ठ सत्यर्थे त्वत्सुतस्स माम् । कथयस्व यथा स्वांतं न दीर्ये मन्मथेन हि
īśvara uvāca | kimakārṣītsurajyeṣṭha satyarthe tvatsutassa mām | kathayasva yathā svāṃtaṃ na dīrye manmathena hi
Īśvara (Lord Śiva) said: “O foremost among the gods, what did your son do to Me for the sake of truth? Tell Me exactly as it is in your heart—for indeed I am not shaken or broken by Manmatha, the god of desire.”
Lord Shiva (Īśvara)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
The verse highlights Śiva’s nature as Īśvara—unaffected by kama (desire) and mental agitation—teaching that true spiritual sovereignty is inner steadiness and truth (satya) beyond passion.
In Linga/Saguna worship, devotees approach Śiva as the stable, all-purifying Lord; this line reinforces that Śiva is the unmoved center (Pati) who dissolves the devotee’s restlessness and transforms desire into devotion.
A practical takeaway is to cultivate dispassion and steadiness through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and meditation on Śiva as the witness beyond desire; this aligns well with Mahāśivarātri vrata and night-long contemplation.
