दक्षस्य प्रजावृद्ध्युपायः — Dakṣa’s Means for Increasing Progeny
या च पञ्चजनस्यांग सुता रम्या प्रजापतेः । असिक्नी नाम पत्नीत्वे प्रजेश प्रतिगृह्यताम्
yā ca pañcajanasyāṃga sutā ramyā prajāpateḥ | asiknī nāma patnītve prajeśa pratigṛhyatām
And that lovely daughter of Prajāpati—dear one—born of Pañcajana, named Asiknī: accept her, O Lord of creatures, as your wife.
Sūta Gosvāmī (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pasha
Role: creative
It affirms dharmic order (niyati) in creation: rightful unions and responsibilities sustain the world, and in Shaiva understanding this order ultimately serves Pati (Śiva) by enabling beings to progress toward purification and liberation.
Though the verse is genealogical, it frames the cosmic/social structure within which Saguna Śiva is worshipped—householder duties, lineage, and rites become offerings when oriented to Śiva, the inner Lord (Pati) of all beings.
The practical takeaway is to sanctify household life with Śiva-bhakti—daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple Śiva-pūjā, treating marriage and duty as disciplined worship rather than mere worldly attachment.
