By His mere touch, their understanding awakened at once. Their inner impurities were washed away, and they became firmly established both in dharma and in the supreme renunciate path of the paramahaṃsa—directed solely toward Śiva, the Lord who grants liberation.

Role: liberating
It teaches that Śiva’s grace can instantly awaken right understanding and cleanse inner impurities (mala), establishing a seeker in dharma and the highest renunciate orientation (paramahaṃsa) that leads toward liberation.
The verse highlights transformative contact with Śiva—central to Saguna worship such as Linga-upāsanā—where devotion, darśana, and ritual approach become channels for Śiva’s purifying grace that matures the devotee toward realization.
The takeaway is purification through Śiva-sambandha: daily Linga worship with the Panchākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), combined with disciplined dharma; this supports inner cleansing and steadiness in contemplative renunciation.
