गिरिराजस्य शिवनिमन्त्रणम् / The Mountain-King Invites Śiva
Hospitality to Śiva and the Devas
देवा ऊचुः । धन्यस्त्वं गिरिशार्दूल तव कीर्तिर्महीयसी । त्वत्समो न त्रिलोकेषु कोपि पुण्यतमो जनः
devā ūcuḥ | dhanyastvaṃ giriśārdūla tava kīrtirmahīyasī | tvatsamo na trilokeṣu kopi puṇyatamo janaḥ
The Devas said: “Blessed are you, O Śiva, tiger among the lords of mountains. Great indeed is your fame. In the three worlds there is no one equal to you—no being more supremely meritorious than you.”
The Devas (gods)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Mantra: धन्यस्त्वं गिरिशार्दूल तव कीर्तिर्महीयसी । त्वत्समो न त्रिलोकेषु कोपि पुण्यतमो जनः
Type: stotra
Offering: pushpa
It is a stuti where the Devas affirm Śiva’s unsurpassed greatness: in Shaiva Siddhanta, Pati (Śiva) is the supreme Lord whose grace, not mere worldly merit, is the highest purifier and liberator.
By praising Śiva’s exalted kīrti and unmatched holiness, the verse supports Saguna-upāsanā—devotional worship of Śiva as approachable Lord, commonly expressed through Liṅga worship, abhiṣeka, and recitation of hymns.
The immediate takeaway is stuti and nāma-smaraṇa: recite Śiva’s names (e.g., with the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as a devotional practice, especially alongside simple worship such as offering water to the Liṅga.
