अध्याय ४९ — विवाहानुष्ठाने ब्रह्मणः काममोहः
Brahmā’s Enchantment by Desire during the Wedding Rites
विद्युत्कोटिप्रतीकाशमष्टकोणं सुशोभनम् । रूपमास्थाय लोकेऽस्मिन्संस्थिताय नमो नमः
vidyutkoṭipratīkāśamaṣṭakoṇaṃ suśobhanam | rūpamāsthāya loke'sminsaṃsthitāya namo namaḥ
Salutations again and again to that Divine One who, assuming a supremely beautiful eight-angled form—radiant like the light of ten million flashes of lightning—abides and is established in this world.

Significance: Contemplation of Śiva’s ‘saṃsthiti’ (abiding presence) supports steadiness of mind and devotion; encourages seeing Śiva’s immanence in the world without losing transcendence.

The verse emphasizes Shiva’s assumed form and abiding presence, supporting saguṇa-upāsanā: devotees contemplate a definite, auspicious form (including the Liṅga as a sacred, established embodiment) while recognizing the same Lord as transcendent in essence.
A simple practice is repeated namaskāra with japa—especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—while visualizing Shiva’s lightning-like radiance; on Mahāśivarātri, pair it with offerings such as bilva leaves and Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) devotionally.
