That festival became exceedingly grand, and on both sides there was a flowing tide of joy. Many kinds of gifts were then distributed to the brāhmaṇas, in the manner prescribed and duly described by tradition.

It highlights that true Shaiva celebration is not mere festivity but dharmic joy expressed through generosity—supporting sacred learning and ritual order via dāna, which purifies the heart and strengthens bhakti toward Pati (Shiva).
Utsava and dāna commonly accompany Saguna Shiva worship—temple rites, abhiṣeka, and communal celebration—where devotion becomes tangible through service and offerings, honoring Shiva’s presence in the Linga and in the devotee community.
Perform worship with a joyful mind, then conclude with dāna—food, cloth, or dakṣiṇā—along with japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as a devotional completion to the rite.
