मेना-शिवदर्शन-प्रस्थानम् | Menā’s Quest to Behold Śiva
Departure for Śiva’s Darśana
शिव उवाच । मदाज्ञया युवान्तातौ सदेवौ च पृथक्पृथक् । गच्छतं हि गिरिद्वारं वयं पश्चाद्व्रजेमहि
śiva uvāca | madājñayā yuvāntātau sadevau ca pṛthakpṛthak | gacchataṃ hi giridvāraṃ vayaṃ paścādvrajemahi
Śiva said: “By My command, you two—together with the gods—go separately to the mountain-gate. We shall follow after you.”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
The verse highlights Śiva as Pati (the Lord and guide) whose command establishes right order (dharma) for gods and devotees; following His direction becomes a form of disciplined devotion that prepares the path for auspicious divine arrival and grace.
Here Śiva speaks and directs events as Saguna Shiva—the personal Lord who guides beings through time and place. In Linga-worship, this same guiding presence is approached through ritual and devotion, recognizing that the Lord’s will leads the seeker toward His manifest sacred ‘thresholds’ and revelations.
The practical takeaway is disciplined obedience and readiness: proceed to a sacred place with reverence, maintain purity and focus, and internally align with Śiva’s command—often supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) while approaching a shrine or pilgrimage threshold.
