FAQs

It highlights dharmic order in sacred union: even a divine marriage is conducted through proper rites, showing that devotion to Shiva is harmonized with scriptural discipline (vidhi) and joyful consent (prīti).

The verse sits within the narrative that culminates in Shiva’s manifest (saguṇa) līlā as the divine bridegroom; it frames the forthcoming worshipful celebration as a sanctioned, vow-aligned event rather than mere social custom.

It implies respect for mantra-guided, priest-led saṃskāras; a practical takeaway is to begin major vows or pūjā with sankalpa and auspicious timing (lagna), accompanied by Shiva-nāma japa such as the Pañcākṣarī: “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
