अनरण्य-वंशवर्णनम् तथा पिप्पलादस्य कामोत्पत्तिः

The king bowed down and duly honored them; then, weeping in their presence, he disclosed everything and quickly asked what was proper to be done.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Purāṇic account to the sages, describing the king’s actions)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It highlights śaraṇāgati (sincere surrender): the devotee approaches with humility, truthfully confesses his condition, and seeks the dharmically proper path—inviting Shiva’s grace to remove bondage (pāśa) and restore right order.
The verse models Saguna devotion—approaching Shiva (with Parvati) as the compassionate Lord who can be directly worshipped and petitioned; such heartfelt submission is the inner core of Linga-worship and all pūjā.
A practical takeaway is to begin Shiva-pūjā with praṇāma and honest self-offering (ātma-nivedana), then ask for “ucita” guidance; one may accompany this with japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") as a devotional discipline.
