Whatever flowers and other offerings had been given at the time of worship to the mace-bearing Lord, he then saw all of that resting upon the body and head of that mendicant.

It highlights that the true fruit of worship is not confined to the altar—offerings become meaningful when grace reveals where devotion has actually “landed,” teaching humility and the Shaiva emphasis on inner transformation over mere display.
Just as Linga-puja trains the mind to see Śiva in a sanctified form, this verse extends that vision into life: the sacred is recognized beyond the shrine, implying that sincere devotion culminates in perceiving divinity and sanctity in unexpected vessels.
Perform puja with bhakti and then contemplate where the offering truly belongs—practice internal offering (mānasa-pūjā), and cultivate humility (seeing Śiva’s presence in ascetics, devotees, and the poor) as a daily sādhanā.
