गिरिजाया तपोऽनुज्ञा
Permission for Girijā’s Austerities
एवं तपः प्रकुर्वाणा पंचाक्षरजपे रता । दध्यौ शिवं शिवा तत्र सर्वकामफलप्रदम्
evaṃ tapaḥ prakurvāṇā paṃcākṣarajape ratā | dadhyau śivaṃ śivā tatra sarvakāmaphalapradam
Thus, performing austerities and devoted to the japa of the five-syllabled mantra, Śivā (Pārvatī) there meditated upon Lord Śiva, bestower of the fruits of all rightful desires.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It presents Pārvatī’s path as the Shaiva model of sādhana: tapas joined with pañcākṣara-japa and dhyāna on Pati (Śiva), showing that divine grace ripens both worldly dharmic aims and the higher aim of inner purification leading toward liberation.
The verse emphasizes meditation on Śiva as approachable and grace-giving (saguṇa upāsanā). In Purāṇic Shaiva practice, pañcākṣara-japa is commonly performed before the Śiva-liṅga, where mantra and form support steady dhyāna and devotion.
Pañcākṣara-mantra japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) combined with tapas and dhyāna on Lord Śiva—ideally with Śiva-liṅga worship, rudrākṣa for japa, and bhasma/tripuṇḍra as supportive Shaiva disciplines.
