तारकपीडितदेवशरणागतिḥ — The Devas Seek Refuge from Tāraka
तत्र गत्वा मिलित्वा च विचार्य्य च परस्परम् । ते सर्वे मरुतः प्रीत्या मघवंतं वचोऽब्रुवन्
tatra gatvā militvā ca vicāryya ca parasparam | te sarve marutaḥ prītyā maghavaṃtaṃ vaco'bruvan
Having gone there, meeting together, and consulting among themselves, all those Maruts, pleased at heart, addressed Maghavant (Indra) with their words.
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights a dharmic pattern: before acting, even powerful beings deliberate together and then speak with goodwill. In Shaiva understanding, such humility and right counsel prepare the mind to align with Śiva’s higher order (niyati) rather than ego-driven action.
Though the Liṅga is not named here, the narrative tone supports Saguna-Śiva devotion: the Devas’ orderly consultation and respectful speech reflect the inner discipline expected of worshippers—approaching Śiva (often through the Liṅga) with reverence, unity, and purity of intention.
The implied takeaway is saṅkalpa with discernment: pause, reflect, and then proceed. Practically, one may begin worship with a calm deliberation, japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), and a brief inner review (vicāra) before prayer or vrata observance.
