“Diti, the elder wife of Kaśyapa, indeed gave birth to two sons. Of them, Hiraṇyakaśipu was the elder, and thereafter Hiraṇyākṣa was born as the younger.”

This verse establishes the karmic and genealogical background of powerful asuric figures, reminding that embodied birth (even as an asura) is part of the soul’s journey under Pati (Śiva), and later narratives show how divine order ultimately leads beings toward restraint, purification, and liberation.
Though the verse is genealogical, it sets up later conflicts where pride and power oppose dharma; Shaiva teaching emphasizes taking refuge in Saguna Śiva—worship of the Liṅga with devotion and humility—as the stabilizing path that dissolves egoism and aligns one with Śiva’s grace.
No direct rite is prescribed in this line; the practical takeaway is to cultivate humility and steadiness through daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and simple Liṅga-pūjā with bhasma/tripuṇḍra as a reminder to restrain asuric tendencies like arrogance and domination.
