He is the eternal source of awareness and knowledge, of the very form of light, free from all affliction. He pervades the universe; He is Consciousness and Bliss—without duality and depending on nothing else.

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It defines Shiva as the self-luminous, eternal Pati—pure consciousness-bliss—who pervades the cosmos yet remains non-dual and independent, guiding the seeker toward liberation through inner recognition of that reality.
The Linga symbolizes Shiva’s jyotirūpa (form as light) and His transcendent nature; Saguna worship provides a concrete support for devotion, while this verse points to the Nirguna truth the worship culminates in—Shiva as cidānanda beyond duality.
Dhyāna on Shiva as inner light (jyoti) and non-dual awareness, supported by japa of the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”; this contemplation aligns the mind (cetaḥ) with the Lord who is nirāmaya (untainted) and nirāśraya (independent).
