Nāgeśa-jyotirliṅga-prādurbhāvaḥ — The Manifestation of the Nāgeśa Jyotirliṅga
ते सर्वे च तदा तत्र शिवपूजां स्वकामदाम् । चक्रिरे विधिवत्तत्र यथादृष्टं यथाश्रुतम्
te sarve ca tadā tatra śivapūjāṃ svakāmadām | cakrire vidhivattatra yathādṛṣṭaṃ yathāśrutam
Then all of them, right there and at that very time, performed the worship of Lord Śiva—bestower of the worshippers’ cherished aims—doing it properly according to the prescribed rule, exactly as they had seen and as they had heard in tradition.

By stating they worshipped “vidhivat,” the verse points to formal Saguna worship—commonly centered on the Śiva-liṅga with upacāras (offerings) and mantra. Such structured worship supports concentration and devotion, through which the devotee approaches the transcendent Śiva.
