गौतमविघ्नप्रकरणम्
Episode of Obstacles to Gautama; Gaṇeśa’s Appearing Through Misguided Worship
गणेश उवाच । श्रूयतामृषयस्सर्वे युक्तं न क्रियतेऽधुना । अपराधं विना तस्मै क्रुध्यतां हानिरेव च
gaṇeśa uvāca | śrūyatāmṛṣayassarve yuktaṃ na kriyate'dhunā | aparādhaṃ vinā tasmai krudhyatāṃ hānireva ca
Gaṇeśa said: “Let all the sages listen. What is proper is not being done now. Though he has committed no offense, anger is being turned upon him—and only harm will come of it.”
Ganesha
Tattva Level: pashu
The verse teaches dharmic discernment: anger directed at an innocent person violates propriety and generates only harm, obstructing sattva and weakening devotion (bhakti) to Śiva.
Linga-worship in the Shiva Purana is grounded in purity of intention and right conduct; unjust anger and blame disturb inner śuddhi, making one unfit for steady Saguna-Śiva devotion and pilgrimage discipline associated with Jyotirlingas.
Practice restraint and japa with the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) to cool anger; before puja, cultivate kṣamā (forbearance) and perform a brief mental purification so worship is not driven by agitation.
