अविमुक्तक्षेत्रमाहात्म्य
The Greatness of Avimukta–Vārāṇasī and Viśveśvara
कर्म च त्रिविधं प्रोक्तं कर्मकाण्डे महेश्वरि । संचितं क्रियमाणं च प्रारब्धं चेति बंधकृत्
karma ca trividhaṃ proktaṃ karmakāṇḍe maheśvari | saṃcitaṃ kriyamāṇaṃ ca prārabdhaṃ ceti baṃdhakṛt
O Maheśvarī, in the sphere of ritual action (karmakāṇḍa), karma is declared to be threefold: the accumulated (saṃcita), the presently performed (kriyamāṇa), and that which has begun to bear fruit (prārabdha)—and this indeed becomes the maker of bondage.
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
The verse defines karma as threefold—saṃcita, kriyamāṇa, and prārabdha—and identifies it as a cause of bondage (pāśa). In Shaiva Siddhanta terms, the soul (paśu) remains bound while actions and their latent impressions continue to generate experience; liberation requires Shiva’s grace and a turning beyond mere ritualism into Shiva-oriented realization.
By highlighting that karmakāṇḍa actions themselves bind, the verse points the seeker toward worship that is not merely transactional. Linga worship of Saguna Shiva becomes a grace-oriented path—purifying intention, dissolving egoic doership, and redirecting action into devotion (bhakti) so karma no longer tightens bondage.
Use ritual as a purifier rather than an end: perform Shiva-pūjā with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma), Rudrākṣa, and japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), offering the sense of doership to Shiva—so present actions (kriyamāṇa) become inwardly liberating rather than binding.
