Andhakeśvara-liṅga Māhātmya and Śiva’s Subjugation of Andhaka
daityāśca devatāścaiva yuddhaṃ cakruḥ sudāruṇam | śivānugrahato devāḥ prabalāścābhavaṃstadā
Then the Daityas and the Devas waged a most dreadful battle. Yet, by Lord Śiva’s gracious favor, the Devas became mighty and prevailed at that time.

The verse emphasizes that victory in the struggle between dharma and adharma ultimately depends on Shiva’s anugraha (grace). In Shaiva Siddhanta, Shiva as Pati removes the binding power of pasha and strengthens the pashu (the soul) to overcome obstructing forces—outer or inner.
It points to Saguna Shiva as the compassionate Lord who actively protects devotees and upholds cosmic order. Linga-worship is a direct way to seek this anugraha—approaching Shiva not merely as an abstract principle but as the gracious, responsive Lord.
A practical takeaway is to seek Shiva’s grace through japa of the Panchakshara mantra ("Om Namah Shivaya") and simple Linga-puja; applying tripundra (bhasma) and wearing rudraksha are traditional Shaiva aids for steadiness, protection, and devotion during life’s ‘battles’.
