That liṅga of Someśvara, spoken of as “Antakeśa” and situated where the earth meets the ocean, should be understood as an Upaliṅga—a subsidiary liṅga—of that Jyotirliṅga.

Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Jyotirlinga: Somanātha
Sthala Purana: Identifies ‘Antakeśa’ as an upaliṅga connected to Someśvara (Somanātha). The verse locates it at the ‘meeting of earth and ocean’—a coastal confluence motif typical of tīrtha-māhātmya, marking a satellite shrine that participates in Somanātha’s salvific field.
Significance: Darśana of the upaliṅga is treated as participation in the Jyotirliṅga’s merit-field; coastal tīrthas are especially linked with pāpa-kṣaya and saṃskāra of the pilgrim through liminal geography (land–sea junction).
Offering: pushpa
It clarifies sacred geography: certain renowned shrines are classified as upa-liṅgas—extensions of a principal Jyotirliṅga’s grace—so devotees can approach Śiva’s presence through both the main seat and its attendant manifestations.
By naming Antakeśa as an upa-liṅga of Someśvara, the text affirms Saguna worship through the liṅga-form: the formless (Nirguṇa) Śiva is compassionately approached via a consecrated form tied to a specific tīrtha and lineage of sanctity.
Visit and worship the liṅga at the tīrtha (especially at the land–sea confluence), perform abhiṣeka with pure water, recite the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and meditate on Śiva as Someśvara whose grace flows through both Jyotirliṅga and upa-liṅga.
