Description of Śiva Meditation and Worship
सद्योजातादिभिर्मंत्रैः षडंगैः प्रणवेन च । अभ्यर्च्य गंधपुष्पाद्यैरभिमंत्र्य च वर्मणा
sadyojātādibhirmaṃtraiḥ ṣaḍaṃgaiḥ praṇavena ca | abhyarcya gaṃdhapuṣpādyairabhimaṃtrya ca varmaṇā
Having worshipped (Śiva) with the mantras beginning with Sadyajāta, together with the six-limbed (ṣaḍ-aṅga) mantras and the Praṇava (Oṃ), one should offer fragrances, flowers, and the like, and then consecrate by reciting the protective “Varman” (armor) mantra.

The verse teaches that Śiva-pūjā becomes inwardly transformative when offerings are joined to mantra and nyāsa: the Sadyajāta mantras, ṣaḍaṅga mantras, and Praṇava sanctify the worshipper’s body-mind as a fit vessel for Śiva’s grace (anugraha), aligning with the Shaiva Siddhānta path of disciplined worship leading to liberation.
It outlines a Saguna mode of worship—honoring Śiva through the Linga with tangible upacāras like fragrance and flowers—while the mantras (Praṇava and aṅga-mantras) internalize that worship, connecting the external rite to the indwelling presence of Śiva as Pati.
It indicates mantra-japa with Praṇava and the Sadyajāta set, combined with ṣaḍaṅga-nyāsa (aṅga-mantras) and kavaca (protective recitation), followed by offering gandha and puṣpa—i.e., a mantra-empowered puja that also functions as a protective and concentrative meditation.
