That Deity is of the nature of the five‑syllabled mantra, and likewise of the six‑syllabled mantra. He is also constituted of the sixfold limbs of mantra‑worship and is endowed with the sixfold classifications (jātis), in accordance with the Śaiva revelation.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It teaches that Shiva (Pati) is not merely worshiped by mantra—He is realized as the very essence of mantra: the Panchakshara and the six-syllabled form, approached through disciplined limbs of practice that purify the bound soul (paśu) and loosen bondage (pāśa).
In Saguna worship, the Linga is adored with mantra-japa and mantra-nyāsa; this verse frames the Linga’s Lord as manifest through sacred sound itself, so the devotee’s recitation and ritual limbs become a direct mode of communion with Shiva’s revealed form.
Regular japa of the Panchakshara (and the six-syllabled mantra as taught in the tradition), supported by the six limbs of mantra-worship (such as nyāsa and related aṅgas), performed with devotion—especially suitable for Mahashivratri observances.
