It teaches that Shiva worship must be done with purity, abundance of sincere devotion, and orderly discipline—outer procedure reflecting inner clarity—so that Shiva’s grace (anugraha) may arise.
The verse emphasizes formal, sequential worship around the sacred installation (such as the Shiva Linga), honoring directions beginning with the East—an aspect of Saguna Shiva upasana where correct ritual supports steady contemplation.
Perform Linga puja with clean, pure offerings and follow a directional sequence (starting from the East). While offering, maintain mantra-japa such as the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) to keep the worship ‘essential’ (sāra).
