“(Visualize) a red lotus with eight petals, having a yellow pericarp and central core; and (upon it place/meditate on) the third letter of the Śa‑varga, joined with the sixth vowel.”
Lord Shiva (teaching a mantra-dhyāna/nyāsa procedure within Kailāsasaṃhitā)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Tatpuruṣa
Mantra: (śa-varga 3rd letter) + (6th vowel) = स + ऊ → सू (sū) (as phonetic construction implied by varṇa-vidhi)
Role: teaching
It encodes a dhyāna-krama (inner visualization) where the mind is fixed on a purified lotus-seat and a specific mantra-sound, teaching that disciplined mantra-awareness is a direct means to approach Pati (Shiva) beyond pasha (bondage).
The lotus and letter-vowel union function as a subtle ‘inner liṅga’ for meditation—Saguna supports (form, color, locus) steady the mind so it can enter mantra-japa that leads toward Shiva’s higher, formless realization.
A mantra-dhyāna practice: visualize an eight-petalled red lotus with a golden center, then contemplate/japa the indicated phoneme (third of śa-varga) combined with the sixth vowel as part of a prescribed Shaiva mantra-nyāsa or bija meditation.
