Description of the Conduct and Daily Discipline of Saṃnyāsa
वस्त्रेणाच्छाद्य मतिमाञ्छिरो नासिकया सह । विशोध्य देहं वि धिवत्तृणमाधाय भूतले
vastreṇācchādya matimāñchiro nāsikayā saha | viśodhya dehaṃ vi dhivattṛṇamādhāya bhūtale
Covering the head and nose with a cloth, the wise should cleanse the body according to the prescribed rite; then he should spread sacred grass (kuśa) upon the ground.

It emphasizes śauca (purity) and disciplined preparation before Shiva-worship—outer cleanliness supporting inner steadiness, so the devotee approaches Pati (Shiva) with reverence and focus.
It describes preliminary observances for formal puja—preparing the body and the worship space—commonly done before offering to the Shiva-linga, the accessible (saguṇa) focus through which devotion matures toward realization of Shiva as the supreme Pati.
A practical puja-prep: cover head and nose (to avoid impurities), cleanse the body as per vidhi, and arrange ritual grass on the ground to create a purified seat/space for worship and japa.
