Śiva-Śakti Tattva, Varṇa-Rahasya, and Mahāvākya-Bhāvanā
Interpretive Discipline
Otherwise, His Lordship as the Supreme Pati would not be established. Therefore one should understand with due care that Śiva—Śambhu—who is heard of in the Chāndogya Upaniṣad as “He who is within,” is indeed that Supreme Lord.
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Mantra: ya eṣo’ntar iti
Role: teaching
It asserts that Śiva is the Supreme Pati (Lord) and is also the indwelling reality spoken of by śruti as the “Inner One,” grounding Shaiva doctrine in Upaniṣadic authority.
By identifying Śiva as the Antaryāmin (inner ruler), it harmonizes Saguna worship (such as Linga-pūjā) with the truth that the same Śiva abides within all beings as their inner Lord.
Meditate on Śiva as the indwelling presence (“He who is within”) while repeating the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), letting external worship mature into inner contemplation.
