Questions on Guruhood, Lineage, and Purificatory Discipline

Then, lifting up the consecration-pot (kumbha), the Guru—after first reciting auspicious benedictions—should anoint the disciple, pouring the sanctified water upon the disciple’s head in a clockwise (pradakṣiṇa) manner.
Suta Goswami (narrating the Kailasa Samhita teachings to the sages, describing the Guru’s ritual procedure)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It presents Shaiva dīkṣā as a sanctifying transmission: the Guru’s auspicious recitation and abhiṣeka purify the disciple’s head (seat of intention and knowledge), orienting the seeker toward Pati (Shiva) and loosening pāśa (bondage) through consecrated rite.
Abhiṣeka is central to Saguna Shiva worship—especially Linga-pūjā—where sanctified water symbolizes grace (anugraha). Here the same consecratory principle is applied to the disciple, making the body-mind fit for Shiva-upāsanā and mantra practice.
Perform svasti-vācana (auspicious benedictions) and then kumbha-abhiṣeka, keeping the rite prādakṣiṇya (clockwise/auspicious orientation). As a takeaway, maintain rightward circumambulation and consecratory sprinkling as part of Shaiva worship and initiation observances.
